If a Passport is lost, it should be reported to the Maldives Police Service. It should be requested at Maldives Police Service to provide the police report regarding that incident to Maldives Immigration.
If it is determined that the Passport was lost due to negligence of the holder, then the person would be fined by an amount between MRF5000 to MRF 25000.
If the offense is repeated, the fine amount will be increased. Maldives Immigration has the authority, in addition to collecting the lost fine, to issue Temporary Travel Documents instead of Regular Passports to applicants who have lost the passport on multiple occasions.
