Eight undocumented expatriates found onboard ‘Veevaru’ fishing boat, which entered into Indian territorial water were handed over to Maldives Immigration on 25th February 2019, by Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).
The matter was attended by MNDF, and promptly informed to Immigration as foreign nationals were onboard. Joint investigations was conducted to establish the identities and to find the legal status of the foreign expatriates.
The investigations revealed that all eight expatriates onboard ‘Veevaru’ fishing boat were undocumented. Necessary legal actions will be taken against the undocumented expatriates and the responsible employers to enforce the law.
