Precautionary measures related to the travelers from South Asia

Effective from 9th May 2021, the following precautionary actions is to be taken against the travelers from South Asian countries, until further notice;

  1. Tourists traveling from South Asian countries are restricted to stay in inhabited islands. However, tourists can stay in resorts and vessels approved by Ministry of Tourism.
  2. Except healthcare professionals, entry is suspended for the work permit holders arriving from South Asian countries. This suspension includes all other categories of visa holders arriving from those countries as well.

As such, the above restrictions apply to travelers from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Additionally, this includes the travelers transited in these countries during the past 14 days.

Healthcare professionals are required to produce a PCR negative result with a sample taken 96 hours prior to their departure to the Maldives and undergo home quarantine for 14 days.
