Visa

A Business Visa is a multiple-entry visa granted to foreign nationals travelling to the Maldives for approved business purposes. Applications are submitted through the Business Portal of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade. The visa permits a cumulative stay of up to 90 days within a 12-month period.

Eligibility

A Business Visa may be granted to a foreign national who:

  • Intends to enter the Maldives for an approved business purpose; and
  • Is invited by a locally registered business or organisation in the Maldives in accordance with the Business Visa Regulation.

Application Process


  1. Submit the application through the Business Portal of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade: business.egov.mv.
  2. Upon submission, a General Service Request (GSR) number will be generated and the application status will be displayed as Submitted.
  3. Following the Ministry's approval, the application will be forwarded to Immigration for verification and processing.
  4. Immigration will verify that the application meets the verification requirements.
  5. Once approved, the eVisa will be available for viewing and download through the Business Portal.

Verification Requirements

During processing, Immigration will verify that:

  • Passport Copy — A clear colour copy of the passport biodata page. The passport must be valid for at least six (6) months.
  • Recent Photograph — A recent photograph taken within the last three (3) months and compliant with Maldives Immigration photograph specifications.
  • Visa Status Check — The applicant must not hold a visa category specified under Article 9 of the Maldives Immigration Act (Law No. 1/2007).
  • Entry Prohibition Check — The applicant must not be prohibited from entering the Maldives under Article 8 of the Maldives Immigration Act (Law No. 1/2007).
  • Visa Duration Limits — The applicant must comply with the applicable visa duration limits set out below.

Important Information

  • Application must be approved before the applicant arrives in the Maldives.
  • The visa permits a cumulative stay of up to 90 days within a 12-month period.
  • Approval of a Business Visa does not guarantee entry into the Maldives. All travellers are subject to immigration clearance upon arrival.
