Sixty-Seven sponsors, including companies and individuals, are accused of fraud in the recruitment process of expatriate workers to the Maldives and violating the rights of them after the recruitment process. The investigations regarding the matter has led to the administrative penalties to twenty-seven companies among them.

So far, the investigations have revealed that there are malpractices in obtaining the quota for bringing expatriate workers. As such, it has been revealed that, forged and counterfeit documents were submitted during the quota process and misappropriation of quota allocation.

Further investigations are being carried out in cooperation with relevant authorities to find out more document evidences. Cases will then be forwarded to Maldives Police Service to forward for prosecution.
